Contributing to improving the economy

The Philosophy of Light proposes uniting socialism and capitalism. As the author, I combine ideas from Marx and Smith. Some people have asked me if it resembles Liberation Theology—which emerged during the Cold War era of the 1960s and 70s with the support of priests who championed greater awareness of social issues.

One could say that the Philosophy of Light does indeed seek for states to choose an "option for the poor," ensuring they lead dignified lives; after all, migration crises are largely driven by people seeking to improve their economic circumstances.

I am sharing this post to clarify matters: the Theory on the Evolution of the Economy can be adopted by any country that wishes to do so, regardless of religion, race, creed, or ideology. I share it here on this blog as a philosophical contribution.

The theory is presented in the works "The Ethical State" and "The Christian Republic"; I have been publishing it since 2012.

It simply entails the State intervening somewhat more actively to foster economic improvement and help establish micro-enterprises. Fortunately, the State and the private sector are already working together in some countries.

1.      Theory on the Evolution of the Economy

A vision for a just, humane, and fraternal economy

The Theory on the Evolution of the Economy, born from the Philosophy of Light, proposes to overcome the historical dichotomy between capitalism and socialism by integrating their virtues and healing their excesses. This theory recognizes that both the creative impulse of capital and the solidarity-driven concern of socialism are elements that, when rightly oriented, can work together to build an economy at the service of the human being.

The economy is not an end in itself, nor a cold mechanism of supply and demand: it is a spiritual and social tool to guarantee sustenance, dignity, and development for all sons and daughters of God.

This theory is based on five doctrinal pillars:

a)      Primacy of the person over capital

The human being cannot be reduced to a resource or consumer. Wealth exists to serve the integral well-being of individuals and communities, not private accumulation.

b)     Responsible and shared ownership

The right to private property is recognized, but with a social function. Mixed forms of ownership are promoted—cooperative, public, community, and family-based—ensuring access to the means of life.

c)      Urpose-driven production

Economic activity must not be guided by excessive profit, but by the common good. What is useful, just, necessary, and sustainable is what holds value.

d)     Fair distribution of wealth

Any system that concentrates wealth in the hands of a few and leaves many in misery is ethically unacceptable. This theory proposes mechanisms for solidarity-based redistribution, progressive taxation, and intergenerational justice.

e)      Elimination of social classes through structural justice
It is not about enforcing equality by imposition, but about transforming structures so that everyone has real access to a dignified life: health, education, housing, work, culture, and spirituality.

Pillars of the Theory

  1. Centrality of the human person

The economy must serve the human being, not the other way around. Every economic activity should protect the dignity, freedom, and integral development of people.

  1. Integration of systems with ethical criteria

From capitalism, it takes the capacity for production, creativity, and innovation; from socialism, its vocation for justice, equity, and fair distribution. This integration is not mechanical but ethical.

  1. Just distribution of wealth

Wealth must circulate, not accumulate. This theory promotes mechanisms for solidarity-based redistribution through progressive fiscal policies, cooperativism, community economies, and fair wages.

  1. Equitable access to essential godos

All citizens have the real right to decent housing, adequate nutrition, comprehensive education, universal healthcare, fair employment, and culture.

  1. Sustainability and intergenerational justice

Economic development must respect the planet’s ecological limits and ensure that future generations inherit a habitable, just, and balanced world.

  1. Social participation in the economy

Shared ownership (cooperatives, social enterprises, ethical banking) and collective decision-making in resource management are encouraged.

  1. Economic spirituality

The economy ceases to be a merely technical field and becomes an ethical and spiritual expression of love for one’s neighbor, compassion, and the pursuit of justice.

Implementation of the Theory on the Evolution of the Economy

  1. Creation of a mixed economic model that combines:

-    The productive efficiency of capitalism: innovation, competition, entrepreneurship.

-    The equitable distribution of socialism: universal access to essential goods, labor protection.

-    Establishment of a legal framework that regulates excessive accumulation of wealth and promotes solidarity-based redistribution.

  1. Universal Basic Income with community contributions

-    Seek strategies to provide a guaranteed monthly allowance for citizens with low economic resources as a foundation for a dignified life.

-    This income may be linked to community, cultural, educational, or public service activities, strengthening the social fabric.

-    Simplification of subsidies and fusion into a single basic income.

-    Reorganize multiple social and welfare programs into a single Universal Basic Income, reducing administrative costs and improving efficiency.

-    The basic income becomes a right, not charity or political clientelism.

  1. Mixed enterprises with social and cooperative participation

-    Promotion of mixed enterprises where the State and workers are co-owners.

-    Tax incentives for self-managed cooperatives, with priority in public contracts.

-    Creation of regional mixed enterprises — State–Workers — according to the strengths of each municipality or department, to stimulate cooperative development.

  1. System of ethical and progressive taxation

-    Tax reform based on justice: those who have more, contribute more.

-    Taxes oriented to finance health, education, housing, and culture for all, and to eradicate hunger and homelessness.

  1. National Plan for the Eradication of Poverty

-    Participatory territorial diagnosis of unmet basic needs.

-    Implementation of comprehensive regional policies: dignified housing, infrastructure, technical education, preventive health, and access to essential services.

  1. Economic and philosophical education

-    Educational reform that trains citizens in the principles of solidarity economy, conscious consumption, ethical finance, and culture of the common good.

-    Promotion of critical thinking and productive creativity from primary school.

-    Teaching of practical philosophy to achieve self-transcendence and mental and physical well-being.

-    Require that public and private schools teach, from childhood, environmental education for sustainable development and education to generate recycling ideas.

  1. Public banking with a human face

-    State banks with low interest rates for community projects, cooperatives, micro-entrepreneurs, and local producers.

-    Prohibition of usurious practices and encouragement of credit for social purposes.

  1. Decent work as a right and a duty

-    Guarantee access to employment through public works programs, technological innovation, and the green economy.

-    Labor legislation that protects health, fair wages, rest, and the integral development of the worker.

  1. Tax on automation and artificial intelligence

-    Create a special contribution from large technology companies that replace human labor.

-    Part of that digitally generated income is redistributed to society.

  1. Ethical alliances with the private sector

-    Agreements with private companies to achieve social goals: eradicate child hunger, build schools, electrify rural areas, etc.

-    Certification of “Socially Conscious Enterprises” that operate in harmony with the values of the Christian Republic.

  1. High-impact voluntary donations

-    Establish mechanisms for citizens and companies to voluntarily donate to a National Fund for Social Justice.

-    This ethical gesture is socially and spiritually valued as a Christian act.

  1. Community above profit

-    Regulation of strategic markets (food, energy, health, education) to prevent their commodification.

-    Support for short trade circuits, local fairs, and agroecological production to strengthen food sovereignty.

Social Enterprises as Activation of Productive Foundations

The Christian Republic sees the poor as possessing incredible potential, as integral parts of a primordial mechanism. The poor seek facilitation of actions for self-development.
The economy must have a harmonious rhythm so that it can function with natural and spontaneous fluidity, avoiding degeneration, excesses, abrupt declines, or collapses.

Mixed enterprises (government–worker) are social enterprises organized and accompanied by large-scale training and productivity workshops for the unproductive class of the Republic, improving production processes.
This organization is a social and economic unit where decisions are made by the general assembly of its members, and ownership of the means of production is communal. They may be organized in areas such as industry, agriculture, tourism, etc.

The government invests in social enterprises through social investment funds or programs supporting the social economy. The government may receive 10–20% of the profits from mixed enterprises for public investment in the communities where they are located.

The economic circuit must be directed so that humanity’s history may reach social balance and be able to affirm that it achieved the equality of social classes—or at least approached it by reducing poverty.

This theory generates a mechanism that activates the social market economy.

The Theory on the Evolution of the Economy is a new economic paradigm proposed by the Philosophy of Light, which seeks to overcome the historical limitations of capitalism and socialism through an ethical, practical, and luminous synthesis of the best aspects of both systems.

The theory does not deny the contributions of classical ideologies but transcends them, proposing an economy with a soul—centered on the human being and oriented toward the common good. It recognizes the efficiency, innovation, and dynamism of capitalism, as well as the distributive justice, solidarity, and social function of socialism. From this foundation, it presents a model that harmonizes production, equity, and sustainability, ensuring that wealth effectively reaches all citizens and that structural poverty is eradicated.

Its goal is clear: the progressive disappearance of social classes through a structural, ethical, and human transformation of the economy, guaranteeing a dignified life for all.

The Theory on the Evolution of the Economy not only describes what a more just economy could be; it calls us to build it—through conscience, politics, education, and the heart.
It is the economic face of an evolved society and the foundation of the Christian Republic, where there are no longer any excluded or dispossessed, because wealth is shared and life is protected.

PHILOSOPHICAL PRINCIPLES OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF LIGHT

The Philosophy of Light clearly expresses its nature as a path of integral transformation.

Vision:
To be a philosophy that contributes to the human being transcending spiritually, socially, and materially, illuminating his or her consciousness and environment in a positive way, in order to improve quality of life and participate in the luminous evolution of humanity.

Mission:
To spread ideas, thoughts, and attitudes that elevate human dignity, inspire inner transformation, and foster a society guided by the light of the Spirit, in harmony with truth, justice, and love.

To organize society in order to eradicate secularism in the State.

Values

Ethics: acting from inner rectitude and the consciousness of good.

Morality: living in coherence with the universal principles of love and respect.

Transparency: communicating with truth, acting with clarity, and serving with honesty.

Solidarity: recognizing in each person a brother or sister, and building together a society where no one is left behind.

PHILOSOPHICAL PRINCIPLES OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF LIGHT

1.      The human being is called to integral transcendence.
The person is not made only to survive, but to evolve spiritually, socially, and materially, in harmony with his or her inner being and with others.

2.      Spirituality is a source of social transformation.
Connection with the Holy Spirit does not distance one from the world: it illuminates it. A truly just society is born from the awakened soul of its citizens.

3.      Light is consciousness, clarity, and truth.
To live in the light means to live without deception, without hatred, and without manipulation. Truth liberates, and inner clarity guides just decisions.

4.      Every authentic evolution is directed toward the common good.
There is no true development if it does not reach everyone. Material growth must be accompanied by justice, dignity, and compassion.

5.      Ethics is the pillar of luminous civilization.
Human acts must be governed by ethical conscience, not by convenience. Ethics and morality are not limitations, but paths of true freedom.

6.      Transparency is a reflection of inner light.
Whoever acts from the light neither hides nor manipulates. Thought and action must be coherent, honest, and visible.

7.      Solidarity is the expression of love in the social sphere.
It is not enough to feel compassion: one must act. Helping, sharing, serving, and accompanying are essential acts for building resplendent fraternity.

8.      The word builds or destroys; it must illuminate.
Every thought that is spread must have a purpose of light: to heal, awaken, guide, comfort, or inspire.

9.      Freedom of conscience is sacred.
No one may be forced to believe. Faith, inner search, and free thought are inviolable spaces, and they must be respected in every society of the Holy Spirit.

10.  The ultimate purpose is to elevate humanity.
The Philosophy of Light does not seek to impose dogmas, but to offer a path so that humanity may advance toward a civilization of love, light, and peace.

Successful Launch of The Christian Republic

The presentation of Editorial Tronos’ book The Christian Republic, from the Philosophy of Light collection, was successfully held on Sunday, July 19, at 12:00 p.m., at Librería De Museo, Margarita Carrera Hall. This venue is located across from the Fairgrounds, where national authors were invited to present their works.

When I scheduled the presentation, I did not realize that the FIFA World Cup Final was taking place that same day at 1:00 p.m. This affected attendance because, as the venue is located inside a shopping center, the restaurants were crowded with people waiting to watch the match.

Those who were interested in philosophy attended, and I presented the book. The event coordinator kindly helped organize the presentation. I delivered the lecture, and I noticed that the audience understood the message and was delighted with the philosophy.

I focused on explaining the importance of the awakening of consciousness brought about by philosophy, so that societies may be governed with ethics, respect for human rights, and a genuine commitment to securing a dignified life for every sector of society.

Another aspect I emphasized was the unification of socialism and capitalism in order to activate productive sectors where the economy does not flow, and where such stagnation results in poverty or employment instability.

The Christian Republic is built by fostering opportunities for growth. Its system strengthens the economy, enabling people in neglected communities to become micro-entrepreneurs, thereby allowing them to achieve a dignified life sustained by a stable and prosperous economy.

I am sharing a few photographs from the presentation.

The Christian Republic is available for purchase at this bookstore and at all of its branches.

My Candidacy for PARLACEN

In 1984, I met Álvaro Arzú. At that time, he owned a travel agency and would come to Agroquímicas de Guatemala, where I worked, because he was a friend of the engineers. I held the position of radio operator, and my job was to verify the daily sales reports with the warehouses located throughout Guatemala. It was my first job after graduating from school.

His office was a few levels below mine. He was organizing his campaign for mayor, and I remember that fireworks were set off when he won the mayoral election in 1986.

Years later, we met again at the inauguration of a restaurant in Zone 10. There, he asked me to help him with his campaign to become president. I accepted, and he hired me to work at a newly opened headquarters of the National Advancement Party, PAN (Partido de Avanzada Nacional).

My responsibility was to receive new members joining the party and direct them to the different secretariats. There were approximately twelve secretariats representing different political currents, and they were dedicated to organizing events to gain electoral support.

One day, I gave him a book titled Selected Thoughts of Gandhi. Later, he told me, “I am going to sign the Peace Accords; I will be the president who signs peace.” And that is how people from the left began to approach him for dialogue, and the negotiations began. Then he asked me to visit groups of people from the left in different parts of the country.

It was a very important experience in my life to work with PAN, because I learned what a political party truly is. I was awarded a trophy because they said my work was outstanding; people appreciated and cared for me.

The National Secretariat of Professionals of the National Advancement Party awards Vera Bolaños as an OUTSTANDING PANISTA WOMAN.

Guatemala, November 1997

When Álvaro Arzú was registered as a presidential candidate, I was registered as a candidate for PARLACEN. Since he won by a very narrow margin over the other candidate, I did not enter PARLACEN, but I appreciated the gesture he made.

The Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) is the political and democratic institution of the Central American Integration System (SICA). Its main objective is to promote integration, peace, security, and the development of the region.

At that time, Álvaro had considerable support from people with economic, military, religious, and political influence. Everything gradually came together for him to become president. Thanks to God, he won the presidency by a small margin, and representatives from the United Nations and friendly countries began to arrive.

Pope John Paul II visited the country, supported the signing of the Peace Accords, and peace was finally signed on December 29, 1996.

After the signing of the Peace Accords, I gave several talks about the Peace Accords and the United Nations Verification Mission in Guatemala, MINUGUA. They provided me with printed copies of the agreements to distribute among the attendees.

Arzú hired me to work at the Private Secretariat of the Presidency, and I became Director of Protocol at La Aurora International Airport. I had the honor of receiving Pope John Paul II, the Queen of Spain, and the many guests invited by the President, whose presence was countless due to the historic event of the signing of the Peace Accords.

Later, there was a PAN assembly, and some people who were envious of Álvaro betrayed him and took the party away from him. Others said that Álvaro wanted to nominate a family member as the presidential candidate, while the members of PAN wanted a different candidate. Years later, I resigned from PAN because I was affiliated with the party, and I did not agree with what had happened. To this day, I have not joined any other political party.

Presentation of the Book “The Christian Republic”

The book entitled “The Christian Republic” is a beautiful work, written with the love of Jesus Christ for humanity. It is one of the books of the Philosophy of Light and addresses the importance of Applied and Practical Political Philosophy in the exercise of government and the governance of nations.

Each chapter highlights the importance of practical philosophy, because ideas must be accompanied by actions. Positive human thought must be transformed into deeds that improve society, human coexistence, human dignity, and the right to be happy.

The book contains 162 pages and is divided into five chapters:

I.                    The Christian Republic

II.                  The Spirituality of the Christian Republic

III.                The Modern Secular State: Crisis of Meaning in Contemporary Institutions

IV.                The Philosophy of Light and Its Convergence with Other Philosophies

V.                  Prayers of Light for the Christian Republic

This is the first edition, bearing the seal of Editorial Tronos, my publishing house, through which I have already published two books for young readers, and now this work on the Philosophy of Light.

Publishing a book in Guatemala and in other countries requires great effort. It is a profound experience to be both an editor and an author. At this time, the purpose of this publishing house is to publish works of my own authorship.

The book is available in English on Amazon. In Guatemala, bookstores sell only a limited number of books in English, and few schools seek to purchase books in this language. Therefore, the English-language books published by Editorial Tronos are available on Amazon. If any publishing house or organization is interested in publishing my works, either in Guatemala or abroad, in English or Spanish, we can establish a commercial agreement.

I would like to share the invitation to the presentation of the book “The Christian Republic” with those who wish to attend the International Book Fair of Guatemala, FILGUA. It will be a pleasure to have your presence. It will be a pleasant 35-minute talk, followed by 15 minutes for book signing.

I look forward to welcoming you!

The book will be available for purchase on the day of the presentation, during the Fair at Librería De Museo and at Mistu Libros.

After FILGUA 2026, it will be available at Sophos, De Museo, and Editorial Tronos.

THE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE IN GUATEMALA

The Christian Republic: A Bright Vision for Change and Social Justice

The only time I participated in a political party was when I was in the PAN with Álvaro Arzú, and we won the presidency (1995). It was a right-wing party, because at that time there were no left-wing political parties. After the Peace Accords were signed, left-wing parties began to appear.

Now the PAN is a new party because it almost disappeared, and those from Arzú’s faction formed the Unionist Party. The Unionists hold the mayor’s office of Guatemala City, and they became far-right because they support Zury Ríos, daughter of General Efraín Ríos Montt.

He was a former Guatemalan general and dictator accused of genocide and crimes against humanity. She was married to a member of the United States Republican Party. Honestly, I believe that in Guatemala she will never win the presidency because the indigenous people do not like her because of what her father did to them. In addition, she has been married five times, and one of her husbands has been accused of smuggling, which does not favor her.

There are other right-wing candidates, others from the center-right, and the left has not presented any candidate so far. President Arévalo’s political party, the Seed Movement (Movimiento Semilla), was annulled, and now that party has organized another one called Roots (Raíces), and there are other very small left-wing parties.

So, we do not know who the next president of the country will be. I do not belong to any political party, neither right-wing nor left-wing. Within a month they will begin nominating their candidates. Only a miracle from God would help me establish the Christian Republic.

The Christian Republic is not right-wing; it resembles more a moderate socialist profile or Christian Democracy. But Christian Democracy disappeared in the country, unfortunately. Another factor is that the European left, such as the Labour Party in England and the PSOE in Spain, are supporting Muslims. I promote republics of other religions as well, but at the moment the situation regarding Islam is delicate because of terrorism. Besides, God wants me to establish the Christian Republic.

I rebuked the Labour Party and the PSOE because I do not like that they only support Muslims and push Christians aside. I was surprised that the right wing in England rose up to claim its Christian rights. Honestly, I hope that these left-wing political parties will reconsider and support the Christians in their countries.

Well, I place everything in God’s hands, and since my name is Abraham, and Abraham is the father of nations, possibly in the future I will be the mother of nations through the Philosophy of Light.

Although I already consider myself their mother; that is why I rebuked the Labour Party and the PSOE. I believe that the Holy Spirit makes me rebuke them as if I were their mother. I hope they will reconsider and become more Christian.

Jesus told me that everything will turn out well, and since He sees the future and the end of times, I trust in Him and everything will turn out well. Right now I am trying to gain support because I am in a presidential campaign 😊, so I welcome political parties that support the Christian Republic.
